Some 2016 news....

It is with heavy hearts that Rhona and I announce the passing of another special boy. Sandy was part of the same wonderful litter that produced so many amazing dogs out of our sweet Pyper and Beverley Farquhar's wonderful Ransom. He went off to live with my very first obedience instructor who decided to give Goldens a try after having a long, successful career with American Cocker Spaniels. Joy and her husband Willie doted on Sandy and he grew into an extremely well behaved teenager (how they did that we'll never know!). We decided to give the show ring a whirl while he was still a puppy and his first time out he took the points and went on to BPIG. He then went into obedience with Joy at the helm and, although it was difficult for both of them as Joy was used to a smaller breed and Sandy was---well he was a happy young Golden :-) they managed to put it all together and achieved his CDX when he was 8.5 years old. In between he racked up the conformation points and under the guidance of Graeme Burdon he put a Ch. in front of his name at the large SD&G show in 2010. Sadly Joy's husband Willie passed away and then only a handful of years later Joy also left us, her CDX congratulations cards still on her mantle. Sandy came back to us at Albanor and spent the last few years of his life romping with the girls out at Rhona's. We've never heard a bad word out of that boy's mouth. He was a friend to everyone and anything. He will be deeply missed by all of us but I know that his passing will leave a big hole out at Rhona's. Joy and Willie your boy is coming back to you now we've taken good care of him just like we promised. CH Albanor Sandpyper At Bonnijoy Can CDX, CGN (10/27/2004-7/7/2016)

We have neglected this website for a while and although announcement is not recent or new to most of you we realized we had not updated the information about our dear Luna.
It is always easier to post brags :-(
Luna was special, just as they all are, but she had a joy that she carried with her throughout her life. In the rings she was a riot. Her heeling was next to none, she was so tight to Rhona it really was as if they were joined at the knee, and the wagging of her tail was so effusive she almost knocked Rhona off stride many times. In the conformation ring she went to work. She'd stack like a statue and when I gave her the cue to move her little head went up in the air and off she went. Classic, old-styled structure and appearance meant that when she was put up she blew everyone away. It was in the whelping box where she really shone. She raised two fabulous litters of her own and, if she had her druthers, she would have raised her daughter's litter too though she had to settle for simply being a very involved grandma. She loved the babies. Both of her litters have excelled in many venues, all of them inherited her joy and zest for life. Luna left us much too soon and much too quickly. The hole that she has left at Albanor is wide and deep. We see her in the faces of her treasured babies and that brings tears, tears of loss but also tears of pleasure for having had the honour and opportunity to spend a part of our lives with such a joyful soul.
Luna, missed by all of us forever, will be on the top step of that stairway to heaven waving, smiling and rooo-rooing with all her heart.
Luna was, and always will be Can CH. OTCh Albanor's Lunar Eclipse (10/27/2004-4/27/2015).

In May at the DPCGM Lindsay and her boy Marley did something extra special and a first for Lindsay! With the final of three solid routines they can add OTCh to their achievement belt. Marley had a first place finish for all of his qualifying legs and succeeded in 3 out of only 4 times in the ring. Spectacular work from a novice team, our faces hurt from smiling so wide. Marley is now Can CH. OTCh, ATChC Albanor Full O' The Spirit RN AGXS AGIJS IP MSCDC VCI EXG Bronze

Boone and Brenda also had some great individual successes as they qualified multiple time in AAC agility.
They got his Bronze Jumper title, Silver Standard title (25 standard Qs), Bronze Award of Merit (10 Standard Qs and 25 game Qs) and Silver Award of Merit (25 Standard Qs and 50 game Qs). Wooohooo Team Boone!

Boone and Drue along with their human partners Brenda and Christine, got their Bronze team title (10 Team Qs) in AAC agility! Their expressions in the photo say it all, what a happy day!

We are so very, very proud of our puppy people and their achievements---now if I could only be more timely in getting them onto the website then we would all make a great team ??
To start things off, in no small way, Francine and her Fannie went beyond the dreaded broad jump right into their CDX title. They had a few hiccups along the way but never gave up and it all paid off in the end. On Saturday April 2, 2016 Fannie became Albanor's Amazingrace RA, PCD, CDX, CGN

WOW!!!!!! First Drue and now Boone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brenda and her barking-boy Boone achieved their ATChC titles this past weekend! Boone kept Brenda on her toes right to the last few jumps but finally stopped tormenting her and oh-so nonchalantly hopped over the final jump and into the title. Boone and Drue are littermates and Brenda and Christine are two amazing people, we could not be happier for them. Boone is now

We have a new ATChC in our midst! We know it was a few weeks ago but we've been waiting on a clearer photo but we just cannot wait anymore to announce our HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Christine and her girl Drue. We could not be happier and believe she is the first Albanor Agility Champion [how do you like the way we say we as if we had anything to do with it---it is all about the team Drue!]. We knew little Drue was something special and we always knew Christine was so put 'em together and Voila---magic happens! We are so proud of you two and the smiles in the photo say it all!

What Does an Amazing Agility Season Look Like?

The 2014 agility season was a “stand up and cheer” season for Lindsay Harvey. Having trained with Lindsay during the winter, I can attest to the fact that she worked hard on her handling ability as well as on obstacle execution with her two dogs – Marley and Macy.

She faced some significant challenges training two very different dogs: Marley, a charge-ahead dynamo with a propensity for knocking bars (fondly known as “Crash”) and Macy, a focused youngster with a soft temperament that needed to build confidence. Lindsay learned new handling techniques that provided clear cues for her dogs and practiced staying “Zen” mentally. And of course, she ran hard and fast to keep ahead to cue effectively. We saw the changes; her charge-ahead cyclone was watching more and barking less (well, a bit less….) and her young dog gained confidence and was baptized “Miss Perfect”.

Lindsay’s 2014 agility season with both dogs was nothing short of spectacular! She competed regularly over the summer, enjoying every minute of the days of beautiful weather and showing dedication and good spirits when trialing in suffocating heat, in pouring rain and in cold AND rain as the season wound down.

The “M & M Team” earned 65 Q’s and 11 titles, 6 in CKC and 5 in AAC. You can check out the LONG list of Q’s in the Trial Results section of the newsletter, but following are the titles earned:

Lindsay and Mr. Marley (a.k.a. “Crash”) were also awarded the JAM (Judge’s Award of Merit) at the Golden Retriever National Speciality, as the Golden Retriever team best exemplifying the spirit of agility in that trial. What fun we had watching the transformation - from a dog that barked constantly and knocked bars almost every run, to a dog that was clearly running “with” Lindsay and enjoying every minute of the game.
Macy was also the recipient of the plaque for “the best combined score in Advanced” at the Hilltop Trials.
Lindsay, it has been a joy watching you run with your pups this season. We can’t wait to watch the fun in 2015!
